We are no fans of the Frankfurt school, but one of the distinctions they made was between rationality and reason.
Rationality is an instrumental means to achieve ends whether those ends be constructive or destructive. Reason, on the other hand, is the terminal process of achieving good ends with good means. This monstrous Israeli head of security makes a rational case for genocide in the following words: “Who are the poor women of Gaza? Thy are all mothers, sisters or wives of Hamas murderers”. As if the last 70 years of Zionist occupation did not do violence to thousands of Palestinian lives.
Hamas was right all along. Israel has no right to exist.
