It has finally dawned on the Yankee ruling circles that: a) they lost in Afghanistan (though of course military capitalists made a fortune); and b) their empire cannot sustain civil wars around the world. Instead they plan to focus on new generation technologies to compete with China militarily and economically. They must also deal with cyber-security in relation to Russia and address the problem of extreme weather domestically. In all three areas they are losing.
