Amidst all the competition of the Olympics, it is wonderful to see a sporting event that emphasizes cooperation and integration of countries via a transnational infrastructural project. The “race” is a lot more than the racing speed of vehicles. Competitors have to drive through local towns and cities and obey the traffic laws. Strategy and timing are important. At the same time the quality of the drive gives clear signals to all countries about where their real infrastructural problem lie.
