As usual, Labor Notes is not just about what is going on in the labor movement, but also how to keep it strong. One key ingredient is how to get volunteers to make a commitment. It’s also about how to keep them involved over time. These suggestions are extremely down-to-earth, practical and require no pressure for members to be altruistic. The steps are so generic for how human beings operate that they can be applied to social movements, and not just to unions.
