How Cooperatives Handle Conflict: Sagely Advice from a Mediator

Paradoxically while most capitalist institutions are competitive, when it comes to resolving conflicts they treat conflict as if it were something out of the blue, rather than normal. Also paradoxically, worker cooperative which we might think would shy away from conflicts, actually have very sophisticated methods of handling them.

In this 35 minute interview a member of a worker cooperative who has been a mediator for many years shares his wisdom. This includes methods of warding off conflict, catching it early when it does happen and resolving conflicts in ways that strengthen the group rather than fracturing it.
