World Localization Day Coming Right Up

It is easy to dismiss the localization movement as some hippie or anarchist undertaking that is unrealistic, given the global interdependence on food and goods. But thanks to the federal government’s lack of resources to deal with extreme weather locally, local solutions may be the only viable solution. In addition, global supply chain problems are a direct result of over-dependence on centralized food and durable food production. From farmers’ markets to community gardens to worker coops, localization is blooming around the world, as is described in these examples.
