When the State Fails a Group of People Help Themselves – Through Collective Cooperation

Capitalist mythology has it that underlying the polite veneer, the average person is aggressive, greedy, short-sighted, animalistic and untrustworthy. This myth was built from the group ideas of Le Bon, Freud and supported in novels like Lord of the Flies.  But mass psychological research  has found the opposite. Natural disasters bring out the best, not the worst in people. Here is one recent story from Mississippi.
