As this article details, the King of Orange will be in for a rough ride in Latin America if he thinks he can treat it as the “backyard” of the US. For one thing, many Latin American countries are looking towards China and Russia for help.
This means they are less dependent on the US. Also, Latin American countries are not as dependent on dollarization as they were decades ago. In the long run BRICS can and will develop its own international currency as an alternative.
