Is Russia imperialist? This question is raised by anarchists and social democrats who can’t imagine a powerful country trading with a less powerful one without subjugating it. This article describes how Russia has helped Myanmar in the areas of state-building, medical and educational development, trade, energy harnessing and infrastructural development.
Of course Putin expects to profit from it, but this is a long way from exploitation. Imperialists do not attempt to develop the productive forces of a country. They want to extract resources.
