A number of years ago Socialist Planning Beyond Capitalism ran a small group which we called “socialist planning circles”. The purpose was to ask ourselves a) what would our future socialist world look like and, b) how would be get there? Well, as we suspected, a United Nations committee has already worked a great deal of this out. It is called the UN Development Program to Save the Planet. It covers the following twelve areas: democracy; digital world; environment; finance, health; housing; food; education, workers: care for children and the elderly; women; and culture. Each area contains an average of 15 things to be done. The existence of this plan shows that what is to be done is not a mystery. The problem is putting it into practice over the dead bodies of capitalists and their minions.
