Not only the Strait of Hormuz but also the Black Sea are chokepoints obstructing global trade. The long-term security of the region is passing on to Iran which has been building allies as it fights Mordor all along the way.
Mordor has neither the military power nor the respect of the surrounding countries to be a force in West Asia any longer. European rulers apparently have no understanding that Iran, China and Russia are the new face of regional security.
