In the last three months there have been attempts to form unions in over 100 Starbucks locations. As might be expected, Starbucks hired a union-busting outfit to train managers to discourage the workers from forming unions. Managers closed the stores and held 4 consecutive store meetings – each lasting 4 hours. All meetings consisted of six employees being forced into “listening sessions”. Things did not turn out as Starbucks and managers expected, thanks to the self-organizing of the employees.
