In his book “The Collapse of Antiquity”, Michael Hudson proves himself not just as a great international political economist, but also as an economic anthropologist and economic archeologist. We take for granted that it is only moral that we pay our debts. But this morality is not eternal. It emerged as part of a long propaganda campaign on the part of financial elites of Rome. As it turns out, it was the Mesopotamians of the Bronze Age who were ahead of their time and the West that was backward.
