Marx and Engels’ Understanding of the Biosphere and Humanity Resembles Chardin’s Noosphere

To what extent was Marx an ecologist? Certainly he wasn’t a romantic ecologist like the Greens or the Earth First anarchists. Yet he cannot be dismissed as a Promethean progress theorist who ignored nature. Michael Roberts discusses all this in his book review. As it turns out, we think that Marx’s ideas about the relationship between humanity and the biosphere is very similar to Teilhard de Chardin’s contrast between the biosphere and the noosphere.
