Interdependent Crises: How Ecological Destruction Produces COVID-19

Seventy-five percent of the land mass on the surface of the earth has been negatively impacted by human action. Sixty-six percent of the oceans are negatively impacted. As bad and the coronavirus has been so far, it’s relationship to ecological disasters has been treated as something separate. But deforestation and biodiversity loss create opportunities for new diseases like COVID-19 among other diseases, as this article shows.
