The global debt crisis is not just happening in peripheral countries in the world-system. It’s happening in Europe and the United States. Further the type of debt is broader, covering not just private debt, but state debt also. The low interest rates on loans has fueled risky investments resulting in bad debt. Will the chickens be coming home to roost sooner or later?
