Columbia University students have a long history of fighting against their administration, as you will see in the pictures below. One of the smartest strategies the students used was calling on the community around Columbia to come and join them.
This breaks the separation between the school and the public. The anarchist activist Fredy Perlman wrote that the Parisian students did the same thing in May of 1968. Looks like AIPAC got more than it bargained for.
