This is a wonderful, in-depth interview with John McNamara. John is a Co-Executive Director of the Northwest Cooperative Development Center and also teaches Strategic Advantage with the International Centre for Co-operative Management.
When he looks at the pros and cons of co-ops over the last 20 years he says there are more of them, but they are still not meaningfully connected to the larger economy. He answers a number of questions, including how co-ops organized at a national level help locally organized coops and the most common industries where co-ops sprout up. John says that despite the current economy now is an ideal time to form a co-op.
