We don’t often hear of worker coops and unions working together. Unions may dismiss coops as a project of middle class anarchists which is outside of the militant worker struggle. Coops, on the other hand, often dismiss unions as conservative bureaucracies that do not emphasis democracy in the workplace. One coop in Brooklyn is working to synthesize coops and unions. Another huge coop provides many health care services to 3 hospitals, 2 nursing homes and also to transition living services.
