Worker-Coops in Worcester Massachusetts Expand to Feed the Homeless

It is all too common for older adults to think that youth today either have no large-scale social ambitions or are too preoccupied with COVID, poverty or student debt to become involved in any kind of visionary social projects. But in Worcester Massachusetts six high school students started their own food cooperative, then joined with a food delivery coop and are now serving their communities. They also have partnered with a third coop with outreach to their homeless neighbors and providing harm reduction measures for people addicted to drugs, distributing food, winter gear, and hygiene kits.
