As the first trillionaire in history, Elon Musk spends his money on yachts along with trips to outer space. Political economist Richard Wolff states that Musk cannot spend it faster than his capital accumulates.
What could be done with that money instead is to satisfy thousands of human needs that currently go unattended. It could feed thousands of starving people. It could help people dying of diseases. It could build affordable housing, 21st century rail systems and upgrade schools. Musk could invest in all these things but he does not. This is not just the personal fault of Musk. It is an indictment of capitalism and the politicians who allow it to continue.
