US Has Double Standards When It Comes to Russian Security

The recent pro-United States elections in Armenia highlight the double standards Russia is held to compared to the US. In the case of Russia, any elections within its former states under the Soviet Union are  treated as a test case for whether Russia will exert “totalitarian” control of the country.

But no corresponding political concern is expressed when a country close to the United States elects someone who might be hostile to them. This ignores the extreme reaction of the entire apparatus of the ruling class to any government not picked by the forces of Mordor. On the surface, both the US and Russia have security concerns. But one concern is labelled  “totalitarian”. The other is labelled  “spreading of democracy”.
