Upton Sinclair’s book The Jungle was written in 1906 about an immigrant worker’s life in a meatpacking plant in Chicago. The conditions he describes there are a chilling reminder of the deaths and injuries still endured by working class immigrants today.
In addition to work-life the author draws a parallel with the state of public health then and now. The author focuses on how the COVID outbreak was handled.
