The Racial Integration of Baseball Before Jackie Robinson

Many people here in Mordor love baseball. Sometimes growing up we might memorize the statistics of our favorite players. But most white boys never learned about the “Negro” leagues that existed alongside the major leagues or that Josh Gibson hit more homers than Babe Ruth.

This very interesting article tells the story of the GI leagues in which soldiers played against each other on racially integrated teams well before Jackie Robinson arrived on the scene.  A second mind-blower is that the games were played in Europe, not in the United States.
