China is by far the most productive country in the world. We would think that translated into the beliefs of the Taiwanian people about their place in the world.
But it does not.
The West has effectively used psychological warfare on the Taiwanese people to convince them they should be independent of China. Through educational pipelines, media ideology and elite networks, Western propaganda dies hard even in a successful socialist state like China.
