The CIA Cultivates Postmodernists Such as Foucault and Lacan
Flashpoints / 11 May 2021/
Postmodernists fancy themselves shaking the foundations of western civilization as they dissect language and “discourse”. It might come as a great shock to them that CIA agents were part of their discussions at French Cafes. Why would the CIA do this? The more complicated and divorced from real life the theory is, the less practical theory becomes for taking any concrete action. It helps lure intellectuals into rabbit holes from which they never come out. It also alienates workers from intellectuals. The image is of a “working lunch” of CIA agents in Paris.
