At least since the 1980s anyone who has rented an apartment knows a sword is handing over their heads. Who knows when the building will be sold and when it is, how much will the rent increase? This is story of renters who first organized themselves into a tenant union and took on the landlord.
One thing led to another and the tenants contacted a Co-op lending organization to explore the possibilities of getting funded. They succeeded but had to compete with other real-estate slimeballs before they were able to own the building. Then they had to learn how to run it as a cooperative! A long and winding road to success.
