Teachers – Not Administrators or Capitalists – Should Be Deciding on Schools Reopening

It is very clear from their actions that the powers that be do not care if either  students or teachers die from the pandemic. Teachers are in the best position to determine how and when schools reopen. In interviews with teachers, the consensus is that to reopen safely more space is needed, more teachers and smaller class sizes. All of this requires more money.

Some are arguing that in light of the virus, teaching for tests needs to be abolished. In addition, the difficulty of online teaching, the dream of neoliberals, does not work as teachers are finding out by conducting Zoom classes.
