There is no figure who compares with Joseph Stalin when it comes to accusations of totalitarianism. Yet there is an elephant in the room.

For over 2000 years the Catholic Church has striven mightily to embody totalitarianism against pagans and heretics long before the word totalitarian became used in the 20th century. This article is about its heartless, fanatical and obsessive attacks on pagans in Middle Age Europe. Despite its smashing of images, destruction of temples and setting fires to trees, paganism survived.
