The European rulers have gotten themselves into quite a pickle. First, they renounced cheap Russian natural gas for political reasons. Now the rulers are reeling from the cost of more expensive gas from Mordor.
This has forced them into expensive borrowing. Thirdly, instead of investing in industry to develop its infrastructure it spends its money on a losing war in Ukraine. In addition it is facing serious economic competition from China. Lastly, and not mentioned in the article, is that the political centrist politicians are being thrown out like a revolving door of an increasingly disgusted population.
