Elections in Venezuela are coming up in two days and if the past is any indicator the forces of Mordor will be out in full force to drive Maduro from power. Why? Surely it isn’t because of the oil, gold and lithium reserves there. No. It is because Maduro is, “authoritarian”. Funny kind of authoritarianism for a country that has NINE oppositional candidates running. Funny kind of authoritarianism that has 40,000 communal councils. Funny kind of authoritarianism that has 28,000 registered social movements. It’s ironic, to say the least, coming from a country like the US which is running two fascist candidates in its own upcoming elections.
