After World War II, neither Mordor nor Europe have been any good at controlling political struggles beyond the core countries.
They would attempt to contain movements for political independence by claiming they wanted to check the spread of communism. But over the past 40 years, the failure of Neoliberalism to deliver economic goods has tarnished their reputation. Furthermore, the rise of China and the multipolar world incites more countries in regional areas to disrespect the Anglo-American interventions as self-interested and insincere.
