Barring unforeseen circumstances such as a coup or an economic collapse, conservatives are rarely as right-wing as they promise. Unfortunately, at the same time socialist candidates rarely carry out their more radical promises. Milei is up against a Peronist organization of politics that has ruled Argentina for 16 of the last 20 years. They haven’t simply packed up and gone home. Further, many businessmen in Argentina don’t think a return of dollarization will be good for the national economy. It will tie their fate to Washington. Lastly, Milei will soon learn that China is Argentina ‘s second biggest trading partner and making anti-communist statements is not smart politically.
