In 2018 18% of the men and 33% of the women in both rural and urban areas of Zambia were illiterate. But thanks to the efforts of the Socialist Party, along with other groups, since 2021 over 4,000 people have not only become literate, but literate relative to the agricultural economy within which they will be operating. The teachers have been using the methods of the great educator, Paulo Freire.
