In their desperation not to seem too radical, social democrats often trot out Keynes as a worthy opponent of right-wing market fundamentalists. But as this article explains, Keynes was very much at home with Von Hayek’s book The Road To Serfdom. He only wanted state intervention as a temporary measure before stepping out of the way for private capitalists to resume their pillage. Furthermore, he offered no solution to the runaway finance capitalism of today.
