Is It Possible to Combine Worker Cooperatives with Unions? Here’s How!

Unfortunately, many people who are members of worker coops think there is no need to organize a union because “we are our own boss”. What this doesn’t account for is that larger coops have managers in addition to workers. There then is the potential exploitation of workers by management, even with the managers’ good intentions. On the other hand many unions in the US have lost their vision of how to organize the workplace.  These unions don’t know what to make of coops who make organizing the work-place their emphasize. This article demonstrates the collective creativity of some workers and synthesized worker coops and union organizing.
