Hudson and Desai: Hiding the Continuation of Neoliberalism by Announcing its End

This article begins by pointing out that the supposed  “death” of neoliberalism has been proclaimed at least 4 times before. The implication was that some kind of left-liberal FDR policies would soon follow. But the truth is those left-liberal policies never came. The authors also point out that neoliberalism has twisted the language of political economy into a model it can exploit. To give one example, “the market” of today has nothing to do with what Adam Smith meant by a market. As usual, the authors root their political economy in history and social institutions.
