Supposedly we live in a democratic society. Yet on the job we enter into a capitalist authoritarian relationship with no say over working conditions, breaks, pay or sick leave. Worker cooperatives are the opposite of this where workers decide together many of the working conditions, including their own pay. Worker cooperatives typically offer higher initial wages, a more flexible schedule and more job security, even under COVID conditions.
