This article defends both the reality of races and ethnicity and helps to explain why in the last two centuries migrant population are a big problem for Europeans and Yankees.
Compared to the rest of the world ethnicity has been relatively unimportant in the West. But how did the Western reluctance to identify with its kin groups come back to haunt it?  As we shall see, its universalistic moral values undermined its ability to compete with more ethnocentric groups. This is the subject of this article.
