It is tempting to believe that spy agencies are more or less centrists politically. But as we know, in the United States the CIA has given cover to fascists while attacking socialists. In Germany the former head of the major spy agency Verfassungsschutz met with members of the fascist AfD (Alternative for Germany) to teach them how to evade surveillance by his own agency. He is not the only spymaster in Germany who has done this.
