Historically the International Monetary fund has been one of the major cheerleaders of global capitalism. Always happy to give out loans to peripheral countries provided they allow transnational capitalists to come and go as they please, they have been blind to the destruction their policies have brought forth. Instead they have looked at “average growth of the world economy as a whole”. But now even one of capitalism’s major cheerleaders is having second thoughts.
