We are one day away from the celebrations of Victory Day in Russia. The then Soviet Union destroyed fascism to end World War II. The Soviet Union fought on the side of the Allies – England, France and the United States.
So why aren’t the rulers of those Western states heading to Russia to celebrate? It may seem like their motives are geopolitical – fighting the new Cold War. But this ignores the fact that many countries in Europe have rising fascist parties. Why? When western capitalism is in trouble, fascism is always the preferred solution.
