Here is a wonderful graphic biography of the great union organizer and member of the Socialist Party, Eugene Debs. Debs was a real working class hero, having organized railway workers for many years. He worked with the Industrial Workers of the World before running for president and gaining a million votes. This story shows that it isn’t true that Americans have always been anti-socialist. It also shows how this socialist party was opposed to capitalist parties of the day, unlike today’s Democratic Socialists of America who merge with the Democratic Party.
