Defending a Materialist Perspective in Marx’s Ecological Theory

The Marxian economist John Bellamy Foster has been one of the few Marxists who many years ago saw the importance of including ecology in understanding Marx’s political economy.  But recently some Johnny-come-lately Marxists, fresh with postmodern insights have sought to reduce nature to a category of social life. This article shows not only that such an attempt is foreign to Marx, but it has passive political implications.
