De-mythologizing Frank Zappa: Beyond the Rock Bad Boy

The Frank Zappa I remember was the weird “in-your-face” Mothers of Invention, and his mocking of “Susie Creamcheese”. I also remember reading an interview with him when I was on a train in Manhattan and laughing so hard at his mocking of rock musicians that I had to get off the train to hide my embarrassment. This film moves into his orchestral music of his later life. Unfortunately Zappa, like many artists was an anti-communist, believing that the communist state was going to tell him how to write and what to play.
