China’s Democracy at the Village Level: Claims of Authoritarianism Exposed

“There is no democracy in China because it is ruled by the Communist Party.”
“Democracy is when you have more than one party”. These are two of the most common propaganda-shrieking statements often make by the citizens of Mordor.

But this video of democracy in China at the village level paints a very different picture of Chinese democracy. Workers’ councils in Russia and Spain in the 20th century had direct democracy. These included general assemblies and mandated delegates who were rotated and subject to immediate recall. How many of these characteristics were present in this report on Chinese democracy at the village level?
