China has been helping South Africa on many fronts. This is the case not only in terms of infrastructural development but also in creating skilled jobs for its working class.
China has a long history of assisting South Africa. It supported the fight against apartheid and by sending them anti-Covid pandemic supplies. It also provided emergency power equipment during the recent energy crisis. South Africa has been China’s biggest trading partner in Africa for the last 13 years. In turn, South Africa has the largest stock in Chinese investments of all African countries.
