The recent parading of right wing candidates as “democratic choices” resulted in the lowest turnout of Palestinian voters in decades. As Jonathan Cook points out, when you have a Labor Party that advocates Jews and Palestinians living and being educated separately, you know how far right the political spectrum has tilted. If providing citizens with a variety of fascist candidates is the product of the “only democracy in the Middle East” – Israel – then “democracy” has a new meaning. War is Peace, Slavery is Freedom, Fascism is Democracy, to paraphrase Orwell.
