Western imperialists, desperate to stop China, evoke the old leftist slogan, warning the Global South of “debt traps” if they get involved with the BRI.
Typically, imperialist powers such as England might build a railroad in India to service British manufacturing needs only. But China is offering something unheard of. They are building infrastructures so that states in the global south can connect with each other, not just with China. In addition, payment schedules are far more generous than the West. At the same time, the building of these infrastructures will take less time.
