For some of us leftists in the West the attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of Maduro may fill us with justifiable rage. In Yankeedom it might be coupled with a feeling of impotence because the left here is so weak.
However, there are many reasons for hope. For one thing, when the Roman Empire collapsed it spread all over the known world just like the military bases of the US are now. Secondly, China and Russia have significant investments in Venezuela and some hardball responses should be forthcoming. Third is the militant sector of the military seen in this article, not to mention the resistance of the Bolivarian people. We doubt His Majesty will be in office as long as the resistance lasts.
